PATIENCE AMIDST CONFLICTS :- JAMES 5:7-11

 

      -    The encouragements to our patience.

-         Impatience reflects a lack of trust in the Lord and can lead to deeper kinds of unbelief & sin. Causes Christian to act out of God’s will & bring more conflicts into his life.

-         Patience is a precious gift that brings satisfaction & relief.

 

Reasons for patience:-

  1. Be patient, because Jesus is coming (vs 7,8)

It focuses one’s attention beyond the problems & anxieties of this world unto the Lord. (Rev 3:11; Mt 24:27; Lk 12:40; Mt 16:27; Phil 3:20,21)

  1. Be patient because God is working :- to build character in us. (Rom 5:3-5)- work of patience.
  2. Be patient for the judge is at hand :- (vs 9) (Rom 14:12; II Cor 5:10; Ro 20:12; 22:12; Ro 2:16; Heb 10:36  to receive the promise Lk 21:19

 

PRAYER OF FAITH :- James 5:13-20

 

  1. For the afflicted, sick, one another’s faults, for healing, backsliders.

PETER’S EXPERIENCE :- 10 Points – Luke 22:31-34

 

  1. The personal test – for Simon specifically, the focus- individual  (Col 1: 28,29)
  2. The plot of adversary – accuser, satan, schemer
  3. The permission  from Jesus- ‘a must’ for His sheep
  4. The pressure to deny – to forsake conviction
  5. The promise of comfort/victory- hope to continue (Ro  8:37)+
  6. The prayer of restoration – before hand prayed (Heb 7:25)
  7. The peril of loosing faith- ‘failure’ not final (I Cor 10:12)
  8. The possibility of overcoming – ‘to conquer’ (I Cor 10:13)
  9. The product of test , trials – refined, revived, returned, restored (I Pe 1)
  10. The program of the Master – to strengthen others- 2 Tm 2:2; Jn 21
