FROM SUFFERING TO GLORY:- Rom 8:18-39 Key verse 18

 

 

  1. Hope          - He has given –for the creation, bodies, all

(vs 18-26)  - there is full redemption ahead- soon

             - to wait patiently

 

      2. Faith              - Spirit’s help for comfort- prayers

(vs )26-30       - prayers to keep us going

 - God’s working all for our good.

 

      3. Love               - God’s love strong

-         able to give all – do everything

-         eternal union – assurance.

 

 

 

SATAN :- ORIGIN, PERSON & WORK: RESIST

Deceiver- Re 12:9.

Counterfeit – II Thess 2:9; blinding- II Cor 4:4; Accusing – Re 12:10; sifting- Luke 22:31; destroy – I Cor 5:5; tempting Ge 3:4,5; I Chr 21:1; persecution – Re 2:10

·        END : 2 Pe 2:4; Re 20:7,8,10

·        RESIST:- submit to God- Ja 4:7; Armour of God –Eph 6:11; clothe Jesus Christ- Ro 13:14

                            Use the word- Mt 4:4,7,10; Pray- Eph 6:18; blood of Jesus & testimony- Re 12:11;

                            No place to the devil- Eph 4:27; watchful- I Pe 5:8

             * Jesus has won the victory for us :- Lk 4:13; Jn 12:31; 14:30; 2 Th 2:8;  I Jn 3:8

 

 

SPIRITUAL MATURITY:-

           Col 1:2,8; 2: 6; Heb 6:1; Rom 8:29; II Cor 3:18; Eph 4: 11-16;  I Jn 3:2

-         Concerned with our attitudes to God and our fellowmen.

-         Ability to meet the demands & emergencies in a mature way

-         The manner we react to the changing circumstances of life.

-         Jesus example – He 5:8,9- “He learned”

 

1.      A desire to be holy rather than happy- He 1:9

2.      An attitude of giving rather than receiving – Ac 20:35

3.      A preference for serving rather than being served- Mk 10:45

4.      A joyous personality- Jn 15:11

5.      A fruitful as opposed to a barren life – Jn 12:24

6.      Acceptance rather than evasion of discipline- He 12:5-7

7.      A life of love- I Jn 4:18

 

-         Maturity requires full obedience to the conditions of discipleship laid by our Master.

1.   Get to know Christ as High Priest:- Heb chapter 4-6

-         as the one able to succor – (2:17-18) ; to sympathize (4:15); to save (7:25); intercessor.

-         He maintains us in constant fellowship with God.

  1. Engage in teaching the truth – you know to others:-( 5:12) (II Tim 2:1,2)
  2. Exercise your spiritual faculties :- (He 5:14)
  3. Count on the enabling of the Holy Spirit :- II Cor 3:18

 

“JESUS SAW” – MARK 2

 

1.      He saw their faith :- vs 5

2.      He saw his sin :- vs 5

3.      He saw their grumbling :- vs 8

-         the priority & importance of forgiveness

-         His concern for the spiritual need

-         His miracles have a message.

 

FOUR ASPECTS OF CHRISTIAN LIFE :- I PE 1:2

 

1.      Salvation :- from sin, satan, world , self

2.      Sanctification:- for holiness, set apart

3.      Separation :- for usefulness, example

4.      Suffering :- for glorification.

 

YOU NEED SALVATION TODAY:- ZACCHEUS – LK 19:1-10

Summary:-

1.      Realise you’re lost, dead, separated from God.

2.      Recognise your sin/sinfulness; unworthiness

3.      Receive Jesus as saviour to save you.

4.      Receive salvation today from all your sins.

5.      Repent of your sin- turn away from your sins

6.      Restitute for the misdeeds done- set right

7.      Rejoice in following Christ- continue obedience to His word.

 

 

A SOUL-SAVED (How God reaches out ) or steps of a man coming to God.

                              Acts 8:26-39 

 

1.      The contact :- the place, time, people, possibility

2.      The confronting :- approach, portion of Scripture

3.      The communication of the Gospel :- at the same point.

4.      The conviction :- any hindrance, all is cleared, ready

5.      The confession :- who Jesus is believing

6.      The commitment :- went down & baptized.

7.      The continual joy :- continued on his way with joy (rejoicing)

 

 

 

 

SHEPHERD – John 10

 

1.      Knowing the Sheep – care – (vs 14)

2.      Going before & leading them- Ps 77:20; 80:1

3.      Seeking out good pasture for them – Ps 23:2

4.      Numbering them when they return from pasture – Jer 33:13

5.      Watching over them by night – Luke 2:8

6.      Tenderness to the even in lamb & to the young – Ps 78:71

7.      Defending them when attacked by wild beasts- Amos 3:12

8.      Searching them out when lost & straying0 Lk 15: 4,5

9.      Attending them when sick – Ez 34:16

10.  Correcting them to walk on the way – Psalm 23:4
